After a private jet, hotel bar and golf course on Sylt, the climate activists of the "Last Generation" have now carried out the next colour attack. The motor yacht "Lady M" was attacked in the Ancora Marina in Neustadt. The ship was reportedly boarded at around 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday by six activists who spread orange paint over large areas of the windows and hull and rolled out banners with the words "Your luxury = our crop failures", among others. Four other activists filmed the action from a rubber dinghy.
The harbour water was also coloured green. The dye uranine, which is also used to detect leaks, was used for this. It is biodegradable in the concentration used and is added to the Chicago River every year, for example, to colour it green for St. Patrick's Day
The police arrived with seven patrol cars and a water police vessel. Because some of the activists had stuck themselves to the ship, parts of the railing had to be dismantled. The personal details of eight people were taken and they were charged with trespassing, damage to property and water pollution. The extent of the damage caused is not yet known.
The "Lady M" was built in 1994 by Moonen in the Netherlands. She is 32.1 metres long, 7.32 metres wide and has a draught of 1.70 metres. There is room for six guests and four crew members on board - it is not known whether the crew was on board during the attack. "Lady M" is made of aluminium and has two engines for a top speed of up to 30 knots. The tank holds 29,000 litres of fuel. In the ranking of the world's largest yachts, she is currently ranked 4681st.
There is great excitement in the marina in Neustadt, with many owners fearing that their ship will also be smeared. A spokesperson for the "Last Generation" defends the action: "We go where the destruction is particularly fuelled," he said, according to the news portal. On Sylt or on a yacht, the protest is more understandable than on the motorway.
The activists posted videos and pictures of the action:
