Maximum trip duration, crew size and the sum insured in skipper liability insurance, trip cancellation and interruption insurance and deposit insurance have been significantly increased in order to be able to insure long trips and complex crew constellations. Pantaenius now also offers the option of insuring spontaneous hire of small boats, dinghies and jet skis or cabin charters as well as hotel stays immediately following charter trips. The new products are available immediately online.
The individual insurance modules of the previous Pantaenius charter packages remain unchanged. From now on, however, these will always be available separately and not just as a combination of several insurance products. In detail, these are
The new maximum trip duration for all insurance classes is 60 days, whereby this does not have to relate exclusively to the charter trip itself, but also includes immediately following or preceding stays in hotels or other holiday accommodation. The crew size can now also be selected even more flexibly: Up to 16 people can be included in the policy, which is important, for example, if longer trips with planned crew changes are to be undertaken. And if you don't want to charter an entire yacht yourself, Pantaenius will also offer the option of insuring cabin-only charters in future. These are increasingly being offered on large sailing yachts or catamarans.
Another new feature is the option to take out individual insurance policies as an on-demand solution for spontaneous or very short hire periods. Deposit insurance, skipper liability insurance, international travel health insurance and accident insurance can be booked flexibly online until the boat or jet ski is handed over. Only travel cancellation insurance is subject to a general booking deadline. It must be purchased at least 30 days before the start of the trip or within 21 days of concluding the charter contract.
Deposits can now be insured in increments of 500 euros each up to a maximum amount of 20,000 euros. In the event of a claim, Pantaenius will not raise any objection to underinsurance and will insure both the partial and full retention of the deposit amount.
Finally, the scope of travel cancellation insurance has also been revised. When the cruise begins, the trip is often already in full swing, and conversely, the holiday often does not end immediately when the boat is returned. To ensure that not only the arrival and departure costs are covered, the new charter insurance policies also offer the option of insuring stays in hotels or other holiday accommodation immediately adjacent to the trip. The maximum sum insured for all travel costs is 40,000 euros.
Martin Baum, Managing Director of Pantaenius Yacht Insurance, comments: "The demands on our charter insurance policies have increased significantly in recent years. We recognise that sailing and motor boating inspire more and more different people. The ideas of what time on the water and the experience of the trip should look like are correspondingly diverse today. With our new charter insurance policies, we now offer a comprehensive solution for almost every conceivable constellation: from a local day charter with an inflatable boat to a trip lasting several weeks embedded in a long-distance holiday."
