The Dutch shipyard De Boarnstream stands for different approaches and new concepts. For example, it was one of the first to present a composite steel displacement vessel: the hull is built conventionally from steel, while the deck structure is beautifully modelled from plastic.

De Boarnstream is also one of the few shipyards that produce boats with a multi-buckling frame instead of a simple "box hull". The next step was then only a logical continuation: the construction of a round bilge boat.

This is a challenge and the fine art of steel boat building. Especially when everything on and below deck is rounded, as is the case with the Boarncruiser 50 Retro Line. Connoisseurs will think fondly of names such as Super van Craft, boats that are associated with classic design and high value retention.

Our test boat is also part of this tradition. Hence the term "retro" as a synonym for the stylish recourse to the forms of past eras.

Obviously, shipyard boss Henk Hokwerda wanted to build a boat that combined all the skills, knowledge and experience gained over the last 45 years.
