Bavaria 25 DC and 29 DC: What can a 29-foot day cruiser do better than a 25-footer? BOOTE looked for and found the answers in a comparison test.

Do you know the feeling that the new boat is not even a season old and is already at least a metre too short? You've spent hours discussing it with your family, friends and, of course, your friendly neighbour at the jetty, who knows everyone and knows everything. And it was no use. The berths are still a few centimetres too narrow, the galley is sparsely equipped and the cockpit and engine are a size too small. The only thing that fits is the price. Or is it? Sure, in most cases the thickness of the savings book determines what the dream of a boat looks like in reality; however, this does not answer the question of what the famous metre more in and on the boat has to offer and what the fun costs.

Our test duo, which should provide the answer in practice, differs in length by exactly 1.48 metres, but is nevertheless ideally suited for a comparison. Both the Bavaria 25 DC and 29 DC have the same concept and the same target group, namely young people or those who are young at heart who prefer short day trips and want to swim, water ski, dive or simply glide quickly yet comfortably. Even in rough water if possible. In addition to a sporty design and equally sporty handling characteristics, a large cockpit with sofa, fridge and sun lounger and a spacious slip cabin with comfortable double berth, shower and toilet are at the top of the wish list of day cruiser captains. The desire for good quality and an acceptable price is also at the same level.
