The Polish shipyard Dracan Marine unveiled the Dracan 42 Touring at the Cannes Yachting Festival. The motor catamaran combines an enclosed deck saloon with spacious outdoor areas, up to four cabins and a top speed of over 30 knots. We took a closer look at the twin-hulled yacht in Cannes.

The Dracan 42 Touring is the first enclosed motor catamaran model with a deck saloon from the relatively new Polish shipyard, which specialises in building catamarans. Whilst the previous generation Dracan 42, launched in 2024, was designed as a largely open-deck cruiser for warm waters, the Touring is designed for use across all seasons. According to the shipyard, the catamaran is aimed primarily at owners who enjoy sailing longer distances and wish to spend several days on board.

Enclosed deck saloon

In fact, as soon as you step onto the twin-hulled yacht, it quickly becomes clear what the shipyard has prioritised: the aft deck features two large sunbathing areas, beneath which the outboard motors are largely hidden from view. This leads into the deck saloon, which can be completely enclosed by a five-panel glass door. This creates plenty of usable space over a length of 40 feet.

The saloon has a classic layout. On the right-hand side is the helm station with two seats, behind which lies the galley and ample storage space. The galley is well-equipped and offers everything needed for life on board. On the left-hand side is a spacious, electrically adjustable dining table with a folding top and a U-shaped bench seat. Typical of a deck saloon yacht is the light-filled living area and the excellent all-round visibility, even whilst seated. A door leads from the saloon to the foredeck, where there is a rectangular seating area designed to accommodate up to six people.

Layout options

Below deck, the Dracan 42 Touring offers three different layouts. In the Supreme version, there is just one spacious cabin per hull. The Voyage layout comprises three double cabins as well as generous cupboard and storage space, whilst the Holiday version, with four double cabins, is designed for larger crews or charter operations.

Regardless of the chosen layout, two bathrooms are provided in each case. All cabins are fitted with wooden floor panels, 230-volt and USB sockets, and reading lights. Dracan Marine offers just two interior design schemes: one in light tones and one in dark tones.

Powertrain and range

The base model is powered by two Mercury outboard engines, each producing 400 PS. Alternatively, the catamaran can be fitted with two 425 PS engines. According to the shipyard, in this configuration it is capable of reaching speeds of over 30 knots. As standard, the two fuel tanks each hold 500 litres; according to the shipyard, this provides a range of 258 nautical miles when travelling at eight knots. Dracan Marine also offers autonomy packages featuring a 95-l/h watermaker, solar panels up to 1,300 watts and a 4-kW diesel generator. A 6.3 kW bow thruster is available as an option.

Price and features

On the German market, the new catamaran is available for 820,700 euros. The Dracan 42 Touring is available exclusively to order and cannot yet be purchased via the Manufacturer’s own website Configure. Standard equipment includes a 660 Ah AGM battery bank, a 130-litre fridge and a fire-extinguishing system in the fuel tanks, with smoke detectors in both hulls. A navigation system is not included in the base price.

Those wishing to have a display on board can choose between a 24-inch Q-display with a yacht management system or the Simrad NSO EVO3s in the same size. Both packages include VHF radio, AIS and autopilot. The on-board electrical system is based on a Mastervolt system with 660 Ah of AGM battery capacity. The sanitary system comprises two electric toilets, each with a 50-litre waste tank.
