We present boats that stand out from the crowd and polarise due to their design or special functionalities. Today: the Hanstaiger X1 trimaran

Batman would come round the corner with a boat like this. The Hanstaiger X1 trimaran built in Spain is hard to beat in terms of special features. Not only does it have a central living area in the style of a cathedral, but also a steering cockpit with a spaceship ambience.

The X1 is available in a motorboat version and a sail version with a mast. The first X1 boat was built as a sailboat and is already afloat. The price is quoted at around 4.5 million euros, and the boat is also available as an exclusive charter.

According to the manufacturer, only three trimarans are to be built in order to maintain exclusivity. Although the designs would allow 20 to 25 boats to be built.

The motorboat version should be able to reach speeds of up to 30 knots thanks to its powerful engines. Two Volvo IPS 500 engines are planned, and drives up to Volvo's 900 IPS level are also possible. The sailboat version is expected to reach speeds of up to 20 knots and will be equipped with somewhat weaker Penta D4 engines. The sails are operated solely via electric winches.

The interior of the Hanstaiger X1 is designed like a luxury home. Thanks to the glass roof construction and the oversized side windows, natural light should flood into all areas of the boat. The layout is open-plan so that the crew can move around easily. The bathrooms alone would do credit to many hotels, considering the space, functionality and equipment that can be seen in the photos.

The Hanstaiger X1 offers a 70 square metre lounge area that can be converted into a beach club, with an additional 25 square metre deck and swimming platform extension. The ceiling heights range from 2.3 to 3.2 metres. The owner's cabin is over 30 square metres in size. The flybridge is almost 35 square metres in the sailing version and 50 square metres as a motorboat. 80 percent of the interior space is on one level.

Is the Hanstaiger X1 a greenhouse?

The many and sometimes large glass surfaces are a unique feature of the trimaran. However, they should not pose a problem in terms of heat build-up. In order to regulate the interior temperature and ensure privacy, the windows are equipped with intelligent glass technology, which makes it possible to regulate and dim the sunlight entering the interior of the boat. Four large windows can be opened, which further enhances the beach club experience in the lounge.

A specially developed electrical system has massive 50 kW lithium batteries and thus the power to run the boat for hours without having to resort to the generator.

Another highlight of the Hanstaiger X1 is the helm station. It is reminiscent of the cockpit of a fighter plane and can be opened in good weather. The helmsman can monitor the boat via twelve cameras. However, there is no mention of an ejection seat on the shipyard website.

Hull length 19.72 m; width 10.00 m; weight 40.0 tonnes; sail area 245.5 m²
