Motor catamaran specialist Aquila announces the first model in a newly developed sports boat series. The Aquila 45 Sport will be unveiled at the Miami International Boat Show in February 2026. Initial insights into the design and equipment promise some interesting innovations.

Aquila is pursuing the goal of positioning motorised catamarans even more strongly in the performance segment with this reorientation. The 45 Sport therefore features a new design with flatter lines, an open deck and more angular shapes.

Drive and performance

It's not just the design that's sportier. The 45 Sport from Aquila is powered by two Mercury Verado V12 outboard engines with 600 hp each. This provides plenty of thrust. According to the manufacturer, the 45 Sport reaches a top speed of over 80 km/h.

The catamaran has an automatic two-speed gearbox and a steerable underwater section. The engine block remains stationary while only the transmission unit rotates under water. This should significantly improve manoeuvrability, especially at low speeds. The specially moulded hulls also ensure better performance. Two transverse steps guide air under the hull surfaces. The aim is to reduce frictional resistance under the boat and increase efficiency.

Like all Aquila models, the 45 Sport is manufactured using a vacuum infusion process with vinyl ester resin. The construction is completely wood-free, which should improve durability and prevent moisture damage.

Flexible layout

The motor catamaran has a flexible deck layout. The spacious aft cockpit offers plenty of seating options and can be significantly enlarged at the touch of a button by hydraulically lowering the side sections. This creates a continuous platform in the stern area.

The U-shaped seating area in the cockpit can be transformed into a large sunbathing area with a height-adjustable table. A compact outdoor kitchen with grill, sink and refrigerator is optionally available and can also be retrofitted. There is a second lounge at the bow with lounger cushions and additional storage space.

The helm station is designed for four people. It is equipped with two multifunctional displays, an ergonomically designed dashboard and the integrated C-Zone system. This means that all systems can be operated centrally and conveniently via the mobile device.

Below deck: space for two

Below deck, the Aquila 45 Sport is limited to just one owner's cabin. This leaves plenty of space for a generous layout with a queen-size bed, separate wet room and storage space. Large windows bring daylight into the interior. However, there is no room for more than two people to spend the night here. But the Motorised catamaran simply not designed.

The cabin is air-conditioned. The catamaran can be optionally equipped with a lithium battery system. In combination with the solar panels on the roof, the boat can also be used self-sufficiently and silently for overnight stays at remote moorings.
