Fountaine Pajot MY4.S
Generation change With over 100 boats sold, the MY37 is considered a successful model. With the market launch of its successor, the MY4.S, the names of the entire series are also changing: "We want to provide more clarity about the size of the boats with the new names," says Claire Fountaine, CEO of the shipyard. "MY40 becomes MY5, for example, because it offers as much space as a 50-foot monohull." The MY4.S is the only one in the model range without a flybridge, but with large skylights. The price will be around 400,000 euros. www.fountaine-pajot.com
Aquila 54
Promising With its new model, the young catamaran shipyard from Florida has once again landed a design that is unrivalled on the market: Bulbous bows that provide more buoyancy and lower fuel consumption, a choice of three or five cabins with the galley in the hull or in the saloon. Plus an owner's cabin that spans the entire width of the bridge deck. "The Aquila 54 breaks with all conventions," says Managing Director Lex Raas. www.aquilaboats.com
Ocean Eco 60/90 Explorer
Hybrid driving licence The new, electrically powered Explorer series from Alva Yachts is designed to make travelling and expeditions to the most remote areas possible. The first 60-foot model is to be used for climate-neutral cruises in Norway. The two electric motors are powered by a large battery bank, which is charged by solar panels and an auxiliary generator. Alva Yachts is also planning to offer the same concept stretched to 27.50 metres in length as a 90 Explorer. www.alva-yachts.com
Silent 80 Trideck
Electric catamaran There's more news at Silent-Yachts: "We are very pleased that interest in sustainable yacht building continues to grow," says Managing Director Michael Köhler. As a further development of its flagship, the Silent 80 has now been given a third deck, which can be ordered as a fly or closed and then accommodates a 90 square metre owner's deck. The solar panels power the ship at cruising speed (up to 100 nautical miles/day), and there are also generators on board. www.silent-yachts.com
