Former Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso is looking forward to his new motor yacht. In this interview, he tells us what he has ordered and where he wants to be travelling with it.

Fernando Alonso still has to be patient until around February. Only then will his new Sunreef 60 ECO be ready and delivered. And the Spaniard will probably not be there for the delivery trip to Alonso's home in Monaco either - he prefers to leave the trip from Gdansk across the Baltic and North Sea to his captain.

But from then on, the catamaran will become Fernando Alonso's place of retreat and the antithesis to his job as a racing driver. Because the 60-footer is relatively leisurely on the move - and travels completely silently. "My life is so fast and we are constantly travelling around the world, and with a Formula 1 car we are always travelling at top speed," reports Alonso in an interview with Martin Hager, editor-in-chief of our sister magazine BOOTE EXCLUSIV. "And when you have time off, you want the complete opposite."

The special feature of the Sunreef 60 ECO is the solar panels, which are not installed horizontally on the superstructure, but vertically on the sides of the hull. There they are laminated into the outer skin. This position means only around 20% less efficiency than normal, and even less with reflective water surfaces. The catamaran can thus travel silently for six hours with electric propulsion - enough for Fernando Alonso's first planned day trips in the Mediterranean.

However, the 2005 and 2006 Formula 1 World Champion wants to take the wheel himself later on. He plans to take a corresponding course and then navigate it himself.
