Formula 1 legend Fernando Alonso favours environmentally friendly cruising on the water with his E-Powerkat. What aspects the Spaniard values on board

Two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso takes it easy on the water. The Spaniard cruises at eight knots with his E-Powerkat. The 43-year-old Spaniard's 18-metre-long twin-hull boat relies on electric motors, a battery bank and large solar panels. Alonso was brought to the Polish catamaran shipyard Sunreef by his former Formula 1 rival Nico Rosberg, who acted as a brand ambassador for Sunreef.

Formula 1 legend enjoys "the sea in a whole new way"

According to Sunreef, the racing driver was heavily involved in the construction and paid numerous visits to the Gdansk shipyard. "The 60 Sunreef Power Eco offers me exactly the cruising experience I was looking for. Long, emission-free and quiet journeys allow you to enjoy the sea in a whole new way," said Alonso after the first season.

"All that matters on board is peace of mind, fresh air and good company. Yachting shouldn't be about ego. I want to share beautiful moments and treat the environment with respect."
