You have to look twice: If you don't like the new Commuter from the wooden boat specialists at Robbe & Berking Anyone who encounters the slim, 9.12 metre-long boat on the water is sure to mistake it for a lovingly restored oldie. No wonder: in terms of appearance and craftsmanship, the new boat from Flensburg Fjord is in no way inferior to historical models - from the straight stem to the "barrelback" at the stern.
In this case, they date from the beginning of the last century and served their wealthy owners as fast and comfortable means of transport, excursion boats or regatta companions. In America they were known as commuters, in Germany as limousines.
Robbe & Berking's design, which is intended for a noble small series, also adopts the classic layout with a semi-enclosed cabin and additional aft seating. The 170 hp diesel engine from Steyr, on the other hand, is located in the foredeck under the teak deck with a favourable centre of gravity and delivers enough power for 27 knots on the wave.
Construction number 1 of the series can be viewed at the shipyard. The boat will also be on display at a number of autumn boat shows, such as the Hanseboot in Hamburg.
