The BOOTE Foil-Experience 2025 was an inspiring experience in the truest sense of the word. What we offered interested parties and how they perceived the event.

Foiling motorboats are still a rare phenomenon. Nevertheless - or precisely because of this - they hold a great fascination for many boaters. Due to their low water resistance, they offer unbeatable efficiency, which makes foil technology particularly interesting for electric boats. In addition, it is literally a "sublime experience" when the boat leaves the surface of the water and floats almost silently over the waves.

Test drive with the Candela C8 and test foil boards

To bring BOOTE readers closer to this experience and enable them to gain their first experience with foiling boats, we organised the BOOTE Foil Experience in cooperation with the German Candela importer Sealectric GmbH from Altenholz both at the Ultramarin Boatshow from 17 to 18 May on Lake Constance and on the Baltic Sea during the Ancora Yacht Festival in Neustadt from 23 to 25 May.

Anyone interested in a one-hour test ride could register online or on site and then take to the water on a Candela C8 under expert guidance. We also offered ambitious water sports enthusiasts the chance to try out foil boards in a one-hour beginners' course. The Sealectric team led by Philip Demler taught the basics and gave our readers wings in the truest sense of the word.

BOOTE Foil-Experience becomes an experience

Martina and Markus Weischet from Recklinghausen were among those who responded to our call. Having travelled to Ancora Marina from the Ruhr region especially for the BOOTE Foil Experience, the water sports enthusiasts, who are actually sailors, were surprised by the possibilities offered by foiling boats. "First and foremost, I'm amazed by the peace and quiet that prevails on a foiling motorboat. You don't hear any engine or wave noise. And that at almost 30 knots - a real experience," says Markus Weischet, describing his impressions. And Stella Neumann, a passionate motorboat driver and participant from Bielefeld, adds: "I've only ever driven conventional planing boats and was surprised that you don't feel any bumps or even hard hulls in the swell when foiling. I've never travelled so comfortably on a motorboat across the Baltic Sea."
