After the Swabian sports car manufacturer caused a sensation back in the mid-1990s with the "Porsche Kineo" concept boat (powered by Porsche 928 engines), now comes the contemporary sequel with powerful electric motors, again from the car range.
As the name suggests, the Austrian Frauscher shipyard played a key role in the development. While the 800-volt boat drive is based on the drive train of the new Porsche Macan expected at the end of this year, Frauscher is contributing the tried-and-tested hull of the Fantom 858 Air. With a length of around 8.7 metres and a width of 2.5 metres, the open boat is suitable for up to 9 people - an ideal day cruiser.
Studio F.A. Porsche is responsible for parts of the interior design, in particular the driving position, as the boat is also intended to visually appeal to the Porsche clientele. According to initial reports, the battery capacity is specified as 100 kWh, which suggests a decent range for a sports boat.
Initially limited to 25 units, the luxury e-boat is expected to be unveiled this autumn, with first deliveries planned for 2024. The shipyard is already accepting pre-orders today, but there is no official statement on the price yet. However, this is unlikely to be a decisive factor in the purchase of this boat anyway.
