The Swiss company Solarimpact Yacht has spent five years researching and developing its high-tech design for a modern double hull. It has now been presented

At the Cannes Yachting Festivalthe design concept of the ultra-modern Solarimpact yacht was presented to the public for the first time, but initially only as a virtual 3D model on a computer screen. To discover is aluxurious, ocean-going 78-foot solar yacht with a top speed of 22 knots - thanks to 2 x 500 kW drive power. The range in battery mode is said to be 10 hours at a lower cruising speed.

The fuselage design follows theSWATH principlewhich uses torpedo-like floats for buoyancy that are only connected to the surface vessel via narrow beams. The technology, which has primarily been used in specialised ships up to now, reduces both theShip movements such as rolling and heelingenergy consumption at the same time.

A total of 300 square metres of solar surface supply the primary energy for all on-board systems. An integrated range extender ensures that the crew can cast off even when it is cloudy. Ten beds infive double cabins are planned, one of which is intended for the owner.
