Marina d'Arechi: 1000 murings in the south
An ambitious marina project in the south of Italy is slowly taking shape. In Salerno, around 60 kilometres from Naples or the island of Capri, Marina d'Arechi opened its first 400 berths.

On completion in 2013, the Marina d'Arechi will offer a total of 1,000 moorings between ten and 100 metres in length on a water surface area of 340,000 square metres; 120 million euros will then have been invested. None other than Santiago Calatrava, whose numerous references include the Olympic sports complex in Athens, the Turning Torso in Malmö and soon part of the new World Trade Centre, was commissioned to design the marina. As the highlight of the marina, Calatrava is planning a four-storey club building in the shape of a boat, covered by a construction in the shape of a leaf. The service facilities include a helipad, a beauty farm, a shopping centre, restaurants and a baby club.
