As usual with this type of new build, not much is known about the "Luminance" project. Lürssen's press release contains a sentence informing about delivery in the course of this year and a length of 130+ metres. However, what came out of the floating dock at the Bremen Aumund site into the Weser made a similarly long impression as the "Opera" moored at the neighbouring pier, which officially measures 146 metres.
The keel for the "Luminance" project was laid in 2018 and the exterior is rumoured to have been designed by Espen Øino International. The Norwegian with an office in Monaco regularly works on the lines and layouts of Lürssen's giga formats. Most recently it was "Crescent" (136 metres), "Scheherezade" (136 metres) and "Flying Fox" (136 metres), all of which are associated with Russian oligarchs. However, the focus here is on related design features. The dark colouring of the steel hull and the metallic grey of the aluminium superstructure appear to have been borrowed from "Crescent". The strongly offset helideck with the two trapezoidal top decks and the absence of a hangar are reminiscent of "Scheherezade". However, the helicopter platform of "Luminance" - which is likely to be given a different name after the christening - is set apart by a railing interspersed with cartilage. The oval indentation in the aft decks can also be found on "Flying Fox". The ship's side is similarly expansive as on the largest charter yacht in the world (3 million euros a week), which should give the main deck suites balconies.
During the late afternoon watering, a detail came to light that none of the aforementioned "sisters" have: The outer lines were emphasised by LED or laser light strips. The 143-metre Lürssen "Nord", designed by the Italian studio Nuvolari Lenard, has a similar look. Two opposing cranes, which can be seen on the aft deck under the helipad, pose a puzzle. It would be very surprising if the tenders were stored there. However, the infinity pool on the aft main deck is not. Three propellers could still be seen in the floating dock below, which will hopefully be turning soon. With an estimated length of 145 metres, Project "Luminance" would rank 11th in the BOOTE EXCLUSIVE ranking of the 200 longest yachts in the world.
