The Cannes Yachting Festival grows year on year and cements its reputation as the world's largest in-water trade fair. There is a setback to report for this year, albeit only a small one. Modernisation and redesign work in the Vieux Port, which will continue until 2026, will force the layout to be changed. Specifically, this concerns the Quai Max Laubeuf, where Axopar in particular previously occupied a large stand on two levels. The Finns - together with around 60 other motorboat brands - will have to move to a 2,000 square metre area in Port Canto, just under a nautical mile away, between the areas for sailing yachts (Multi and Mono) and brokers as well as various suppliers of water toys. This will not only bring the water sports worlds closer together, this year for the first time visitors will be able to take a complete 2.5 kilometre tour of Port Canto. They will be able to see almost 340 boats and yachts: 120 new sailing boats over ten metres in length (including the Y8 from Greifswald), 170 motorboats from eight metres in length and around 50 formats from 24 metres in length from previous owners. Ferries operating at regular intervals between the two harbours are free of charge for trade fair visitors.
Changes are also being made to the Vieux Port. The main entrance is moving close to the famous staircase that the stars climb during the film festival. A new entrance in the heart of the Pantiero will replace the one on Quai Max Laubeuf. As usual, the largest exhibits are moored at the superyacht Extension. The star of the temporary jetty extension is likely to be "Maverick", a 44-metre explorer commissioned by Tom Schröder. The German also holds a majority stake in the Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche and will be travelling the world with his family for several years after the trade fair season. So get on board quickly! Other oversized exhibits include the 40-metre Dom 133 from Baglietto and the Doge 400 as well as the 45-metre world premiere T450 from Tankoa. Wider Yachts aims to impress with its full width and moors the hybrid motor cat WiderCat 92 at the far end of the Vieux Port.
The major shipyards will be presenting their fleets at their usual location, not far from the Palais des Festivals. The Ferretti Group will be presenting a total of 19 yachts, including the new Custom Line Navetta 38. A special feature of the Cannes Yachting Festival is that various yachts will be setting off on morning and evening trips during the trade fair. The Otam flagship 90 GTS will whizz across the Golfe de la Napoule at over 40 knots thanks to its surface drive.
