CL Yachts has released the first images of the CLB65 SUV. The 19.7-metre-long yacht does not feature a flybridge. Instead, it has a continuous main deck and a stern that can be reconfigured. The boat will make its debut in Hong Kong in November 2026.

The CLB65 SUV It is based on the CLB65, but omits the flybridge. Instead, the layout spans a single main deck, and the aft section offers greater flexibility in terms of configuration. The boat is designed for owners who wish to helm it themselves. Following successful sea trials in the summer of 2026, it is now moored in Hong Kong. It will first be on display from 6 to 8 November 2026 at the Festa Nautica at the Lantau Yacht Club, and then from 3 to 6 December at the Hong Kong International Boat Show.

Propulsion and hull

CL Yachts offers a choice of two engine options: the Caterpillar C18, delivering 1,136 PS each, or the Volvo Penta D13, delivering 1,000 PS each. With the more powerful Caterpillar engines, the CLB65 SUV reached 28 knots at half load; its cruising speed is 21 knots. The hull is made of fibreglass and is reinforced with carbon fibre in selected areas, which saves weight. The underwater hull was developed by naval architect Howard Apollonio in collaboration with the engineers at Gurit.

Electric stabilising fins are fitted as standard; a gyro-stabiliser with active interceptors is also available as an option. The ZF-JMS control system is available as an option; it can be operated from both side walls and is designed to make mooring easier. When it comes to certification, owners can choose between a RINA Hull Construction Statement and CE Category B.

Rear and outdoor areas

The aft section can be used in different ways depending on the occasion, for example as a base for fishing and diving trips, as a beach club or as an additional cabin. A teak-decked swim platform extends the deck right down to the water’s edge. The aft lounge is where you can dine al fresco; there is also a sunbathing area and a bar with two stools. At the bow is the fore lounge, featuring large sun pads and seating.

Main deck and saloon of the CLB 65 SUV

The aft deck, galley and saloon are all on the same level. The galley is situated between the interior and exterior; a hinged window and a sliding door on the port side connect it directly to the outdoor area. With the electric barbecue and two bar stools, it becomes an outdoor kitchen. Opposite the fully equipped galley, there is a breakfast nook with panoramic views on the CL Yachts.

The saloon has a window on the port side and a skylight that opens to let in fresh air. It also features a retractable, swivelling television. The driver sits at the front of the twin-seat helm station with an unobstructed view ahead. The interior was designed by Supertomato Studio and features natural materials and neutral colour tones. Finishes are available in walnut or white oak.

Cabins below deck

Below deck, the full hull width of 5.85 metres is available. The master cabin spans the entire width and is flooded with natural light through large windows on both sides. It features a king-size bed and a bathroom with twin washbasins and a large shower. The VIP cabin has an en-suite bathroom and a skylight. The third guest cabin can be converted from two single beds into a double bed. There is also a multi-purpose room, which doubles as a crew cabin.

From his grandfather's self-built wooden opti and a Europe to a 49er and an X362 Sport, there was a lot to choose from. After leaving school, Puls decided to train as a boat builder at the high-tech shipyard Knierim Yachtbau in Kiel in 2016. He successfully completed his training in 2020 and stayed at the shipyard as a bachelor. In 2022, he decided not only to build boats, but also to test them. Since then, he has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag in the Test & Technology section of BOOTE magazine. The training he received and the eye for detail and quality of workmanship he acquired help him immensely today. Even though he is a regatta sailor with heart and soul, he feels right at home on motorboats and enjoys separating his professional and private lives and yet combining them. Because we all know one thing: there is simply no better place to be than on the water.
