Solid construction, good seaworthiness and a design that is more functional than fashionable. This should appeal to many owners who value practical solutions and safety at sea - without compromising on comfort. The Hardy 45 European is based on the proven semi-planing hull of the Hardy 42, designed by Andrew Wolstenholme. A hull that owes its reputation not least to the fact that it is also used by the British sea rescue organisation RNLI - albeit in a completely different configuration. The 45 offers significantly more comfort: a spacious saloon with plenty of daylight, a fully equipped galley, two cabins and two heads compartments, plus numerous well thought-out details for longer trips.
In typical Hardy fashion, the outside steering position is located on the aft deck, pretty much exactly in the centre of gravity of the boat. This is not only intended to improve the handling characteristics, but also provides an excellent overview in all directions. Below deck, a fully-fledged owner's cabin extends across the entire width of the stern, while there is another comfortable cabin for guests in the bow.
What makes the Hardy 45 European so special is its versatility. Despite its seaworthiness, it is also well suited for inland waters. The superstructure remains low and the radar bracket can be folded in - so you can even get under bridges. Bow and stern thrusters are available as an option, which makes manoeuvring in confined spaces much easier.
Nevertheless, she is not a pure inland cruiser. With two Yanmar diesels of 440 hp each, she can reach up to 28 knots, but can also cruise in a relaxed displacement mode - ideal for longer journeys with an eye on fuel consumption. So if you want to alternate between the coast and the canal, you will find a suitable platform here.
Inside, the boat is solid but stylishly equipped. As is usual with Cockwells, the interior can be customised - from the wood decor to the technical equipment. If you want more classic cosiness or modern minimalism, you can have the boat designed accordingly.
