The new Cranchi Sessantasette Corsa 67 is a stylish alternative for those who find a flybridge yacht too unsportsmanlike.

The Cranchi Sessantasette Corsa 67 celebrated its world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024 and is the latest creation from the traditional Italian shipyard in Piantedo on Lake Como. This is where the still family-owned company was founded in 1870 by Giovanni Cranchi in San Giovanni di Bellagio. However, the wooden fishing boats from the early years have long since been replaced by modern GRP constructions. Thanks to its enormous experience, the shipyard's vertical range of manufacture is very high; even the cable harnesses are produced in-house. Although the E 26 is Cranchi's entry-level model, in recent years the focus of development has been on the larger units. The current range comprises a total of ten models, four of which are in the over 60-foot segment. The flagship is the Settantotto 78, which has been enriching the boating world for five years.

The base model of the test candidate, the Sessantasette 67 Fly, was presented in 2022, and last year saw the joint world premiere of the Sessantadue 62 and the Sessantasette Corsa 67, meaning that Cranchi's new products have been launched over 60 feet in recent years. The sales organisation in Germany has also been restructured. Ocean Yachting GmbH is now responsible for this. The managing director brings experience with him, as Simon Möbus was previously responsible for the brand. We had the opportunity to subject the construction number one to a detailed test. The basic price ex works is 3,440,290 euros, but it comes with a good level of equipment, including a generator and crew cabin. The test boat, which was equipped with every conceivable luxury, came in at just under 5.3 million euros.

Sleek contours make the Cranchi Sessantasette Corsa 67 to the Sportbridge

The shipyard is aware that not every customer wants a yacht with a typical flybridge look. This is why Cranchi offers a yacht with a sporty silhouette in the Corsa version. Although it also has a deck on the roof of the saloon, it is significantly smaller and becomes a sports bridge thanks to its sleek contours. Of course, there is also no T-top, as this would not fit in with the concept. However, the advantages of the second helm position with the best overview remain, and this is also part of the standard equipment. The helmsman does not have to lead a lonely existence at work, as a spacious U-shaped upholstered seating area with a solid teak folding table is installed next to the helm station, which merges aft into a 2.16 x 2.47 metre sun lounger. An equipment rack accommodates a radar antenna and the like. A wet bar behind the two seats of the helm station with sink, grill and refrigerator in the basic configuration is used for catering.

A three metre wide seat and sun lounger combination is installed at the stern. Steps on both sides lead to the bathing platform. This also provides access to the boat garage (can be opened hydraulically), in which a Williams Turbojet 325 can be placed. The hydraulically lowerable bathing platform for launching and retrieving the tender is standard. A staircase (hydraulic) is installed on the bathing platform for easy entry and exit from the cool water, and there is also an emergency bathing ladder. Both are also part of the standard equipment. The same applies to the crew cabin on the port side, which has two berths, a refrigerator and its own bathroom.

Plenty of seating and bars

From the main deck, 44-centimetre-wide gangways lead to the foredeck. The path is flanked by a sturdy stainless steel railing. At the front is a complete relaxation area with an upholstered sofa, armchairs and a sun lounger measuring 2.40 x 2.14 metres. Cold drinks can be stored in a fridge drawer. A bimini to provide shade is also available on request. Tables for placing drinks are standard on board.

On the way to the saloon, which is accessed through a sliding door, you pass another U-shaped upholstered seating area with a table. Opposite this, below the stairs to the sports bridge, there is a wet bar with a teak lid, which is equipped with a fridge, induction hob, sink and waste bin as standard. Once in the saloon, there is another L-shaped sofa arrangement to port.

Cupboards are installed opposite. Large side windows offer a good view of the landscape. A complete galley with oven-microwave combination, fridge-freezer unit, four-burner induction hob and dishwasher is installed in the front area of the saloon, next to the helm station with two individual seats and full equipment. A Raymarine Yachtsense system for controlling all the technology is included, as are the joystick controls for the drives, the autopilot, an echo sounder, a Raymarine radar, a 22-inch multifunctional display and a 7-inch monitor for the engine data. The manual compass is also available at both helm stations. The VHF radio and a Fusion sound system are also included, as is an on-board Wi-Fi system.

Three cabins and plenty of safety equipment

The cabins are accessed via the central companionway. There are three cabins, all equipped with 2.0 x 1.50-1.55 metre double berths, en-suite bathrooms with electric toilets and separate showers. The headroom is 1.95 metres everywhere. The very spacious owner's cabin also has a work area, a relaxation area with two upholstered armchairs and a table, and a walk-in wardrobe. The wet room has two washbasins, a separate toilet with bidet and a separate shower.

Thanks to the numerous separate comfort zones with upholstered furniture and reclining areas, the crew can also easily get out of each other's way.

Everything is also on board as standard in terms of safety equipment. Emergency exits are available, as are fire extinguishers and an automatic fire-fighting system with an acoustic signal. There are also seven electric bilge pumps on board as well as two manual versions. The battery can be switched off electronically or manually. All in all, the basic package here includes exemplary safety equipment. Air conditioning with 96,000 BTU and a heat pump as well as a 20 kW generator are also standard. The 230-volt system also has an inverter and shore power connection including a 24 V charger.

Manoeuvring the Cranchi Sessantasette Corsa 67 is child's play thanks to the joystick

There is no choice of engine. Two Volvo Penta D13-IPS1350 with 735 kW (1,000 hp) each are installed. Q3 propellers are fitted to the pod drives. From a standstill, we reach a stable planing speed of 18 knots after 13 seconds at 1,870 revolutions. Only 50 revolutions higher is the point of greatest efficiency at 19 knots. Here, 13 litres per nautical mile run out of the 4,000-litre tank, which is located centrally in the keel. Deducting the obligatory 15 per cent reserve results in a range of 261 nautical miles. The top speed is 26.1 knots and is reached after 32 seconds at a speed of 2,270 rpm.

19 knots is the perfect cruising speed at 1,920 revolutions per minute

Manoeuvring is child's play thanks to the joystick. But of course we also wanted to know how it works manually. If you set one engine to forward and the other to reverse, the yacht turns on the spot. If you order the optional joystick on the starboard side of the cockpit, you also have a perfect view of the bathing platform, especially when mooring in the harbour. As is typical for IPS, fast full circles are not very tight (around eight boat lengths). The engine compartment temperature remained stable at 24 degrees Celsius during the test drives, which speaks in favour of good ventilation. The driving behaviour was impeccable, even in waves. The optional gyro stabiliser, which was installed in the test boat, makes the yacht a sedan chair even in rough seas. The workmanship and material quality are top class. The same applies to the assembly work on all components.

With the two Volvo Penta D13- IPS1350 engines, an engine was found that harmonises very well with the new Cranchi Sessantasette Corsa 67.
