If you want to sail on German inland waterways with an inland boating licence, the hull length must be less than 15 metres. For this reason, our test boat, the Sturier 500 CS, measures exactly 14.98 metres.

However, with its CE category B classification and equipment, it is equally suitable for sea areas.
We sailed the Sturier on the Ijsselmeer off Stavoren, where the shipyard is based. The wind was so weak on the test day that we couldn't really test the installed stabilisation system.

The only possibility was fast cornering: the hull pulls around remarkably tightly, lies on the outside of the bend and then swings into its own wave. It does this noticeably softer with the stabilisation system than without. Nevertheless, this is an impression, not an objective assessment of the stabilisation system or the rough water behaviour.

The full driving report can be found in the current March issue.
