The owner ordered the modern yet classic interior design of the new Royal Van Lent building from London-based studio Inigo, which styled her first yacht with "Joy".
The story behind the creation of "Joy" is an unusual one. The owner, who was fascinated by the world of superyachts, chartered a Feadship from the F45 line to immerse himself more in his passionate subject. He was thrilled and the desire for a yacht - a Feadship - was awakened. His dream yacht was to be similar in styling to the F45 series, but significantly longer. He was aiming for 70 metres.
For the exterior styling, he engaged the renowned London firm Bannenberg & Rowell, for whom this is the first exterior design since the death of yacht design icon Jon Bannenberg in 2002. "We really enjoyed working with this owner, who - just like my father Jon - wanted to bring something new to the superyacht world," says Dickie Bannenberg. "Our design team has an excellent reputation when it comes to interior design, but with 'Joy' we can finally show an exterior again."
An exterior, mind you, that is unrivalled. The flowing transition from the exterior to the interior, the incomparably wide side decks and open deck areas, which appear lavish for a yacht of this size, make 'Joy' a real eye-catcher. In addition, the elaborately concave moulded superstructure creates a striking, elegant look.
An entire deck with lounge, office and bedrooms is available to the owner, while three double cabins and VIP suites are reserved for guests. A gaming room equipped with games consoles, a gym and a winter garden on the bridge deck prevent boredom. The beach club and a disco are located on the lower deck, along with accommodation for a maximum of 19 crew members.
Two MTU diesels with a total output of 2760 kilowatts work in the engine compartment, providing a top speed of 16 knots. The range is 4500 nautical miles according to specification and at a speed of twelve knots.
