Heesen is currently taking the 40-metre-long aluminium Sportster "Galatea" for test drives across the North Sea.
The semi-glider styled by Omega Architects with fast lines from the computers of hydrodynamics experts Van Oossanen displaces only 203 tonnes and accelerates to a maximum of 27.5 knots thanks to two 2880 kilowatts from MTU diesels.
The range of the "Galatea", which is welded according to ABS rules, is 2200 nautical miles at a moderate twelve knots. Two Seakeeper gyros reduce the rolling motion at anchor.
