Whether a boat has a flybridge or not is partly a question of faith. If you like sailing in the open air and want to have a good view, a Flybridge yacht well advised. Another seat/lounger combination and a wet bar are also often found on the flybridge. However, these boats also have a high clearance height and a rather tower-like side view with a hardtop or a raised sunroof. So-called open or coupé variants are flatter in this respect. The latter applies to our test boat - the Jeanneau Merry Fisher 1295 Coupé.
Solar cells are installed on the roof of the test coupé, which supply the boat's 12 V system with power in addition to the standard shore connection. SUP boards can also be easily transported on the roof surface on a roof rack (optional). These can be easily lifted off the roof in a few simple steps and brought into the water for fun at anchor or mooring. An L-shaped bench with optional height-adjustable table (can be converted into a sun lounger) in the cockpit provides additional comfort on deck. There are two shade providers on the accessories list for this area: Sun awning or sun sail. To enlarge the cockpit, the starboard side wall can be lowered at the touch of a button to create a terrace. For an extra charge, Jeanneau supplies a swim ladder that can be inserted there.
The normal bathing ladder is located on the starboard bathing platform. In this area, there are good handholds for getting out of the water comfortably. The stern door at the passage to the bathing platform also receives praise.
The best way to access the foredeck safely is via the starboard side deck, as it is noticeably wider than the one on the port side. In the bow, the test boat is equipped with seat cushions on the anchor locker and a large sun lounge. A table, awning and a bow bathing ladder with solid wood platform can also be ordered for this area.
A wide entrance with sliding door leads from the cockpit into the saloon (headroom around 2.00 metres). The well-organised galley is located directly in the entrance area. In the standard version, Jeanneau supplies a gas cooker, sink, cupboards and refrigerator (130 litres). Electric hob, oven and microwave as well as fridge/freezer combination (144 litres) are on the accessories list. Further forward, there is a cosy seating area on the port side, which can also be converted into a berth for an extra charge. A companionway between the seating area and the driving position leads to the cabins
The owner's cabin (headroom in the entrance area 1.99 m) with double berth is located in the bow, from where a door leads directly into the en-suite bathroom, which is well laid out and well equipped with a shower, electric marine toilet, washbasin, storage space and suitable ventilation. The guest bathroom is not quite as large, but offers the same facilities as the owner's bathroom. The guest cabins are located amidships and offer two berths each. The cabin to starboard is equipped with two single berths (0.70 m x 2.00 m), the one to port has a double berth (1.65 m x 2.00 m), which is made up of two single berths with inlay cushions. There is ample stowage space in the cabins and in the saloon.
Back to the saloon: The driving position is installed on the starboard side and offers a comfortable seat. The seat cushion can be folded up at the front for a relaxed ride while standing.
The skipper can read the instruments without any problems, and the reflections in the windscreen are also minimal due to the dark paint on the cab.
Solid windscreen wipers ensure good visibility in rainy weather. Jeanneau offers Mercury and Yamaha engines - with the corresponding controls (steering, gearstick, joystick, panel and displays). You can choose between 3 x 300 hp Mercury outboards or, like our test motorisation, 3 x Yamaha F300s. Bow thrusters are on the options list to ensure absolute safety for the driver when mooring and casting off, especially in strong winds.
You can choose between a manually controlled thruster or proportional thrusters that match the motorisation and are integrated into the joystick system.
After effortlessly casting off in Port Canto (Cannes) with the joystick, we continue comfortably to the harbour exit. From there we have to go slowly due to the speed limit, which keeps the Merry Fisher on course. After the section with the restriction, we quickly push the levers forwards and the test boat quickly starts to glide without any visual obstructions. An automatic trim system on the test Jeanneau ensures the optimum position. On the test day, the Mediterranean is quite choppy, which the hull handles well.
The Jeanneau masters even fast turns safely and accurately. If you are travelling at cruising speed (25 knots), you have a calculated range of 145 nautical miles plus 15% reserve. No matter where the journey takes you, the boat can be equipped with air conditioning (switchable) or diesel heating, depending on the area. The workmanship and installations are of a high standard. The safety equipment receives equal praise.
