What was planned as a relaxed afternoon of partying and fun ended in a nightmare for 32 influencers off the coast of Miami on Saturday. The group had rented a Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 - a 19.2 metre motor yacht worth around 4.5 million dollars. But the trip took a dramatic turn when the boat suddenly took on water and began to sink.
At 17:05, the Miami Beach police received the first emergency call. A boat was in distress near Star Island. "We received a distress call about a passenger boat between Monument and Star Island with 32 people on board," reads a report from CBS News Miami.
The emergency services were surprised by the completely overcrowded state of the yacht. It quickly became clear that the boat was carrying far more passengers than the licence allowed. The Tecnomar is only designed for five guests and two crew members. The USCG immediately called for reinforcements as the yacht quickly filled with water.
On board was an illustrious circle of internet personalities. These included US influencer Lauren Nicole, known for her luxurious journeys in private jets, aerial acrobatics trainer Anita Ayala and Regan Hartley, former Miss America contestant. The latter shares her impressions in the Story highlight on her Instagram profile. Fashion designer Izabella Koch was also part of the group. She posted a reel of the nasty surprise:

The mood on board fluctuated between concern and amusement. While some cried out in concern, others wondered how the maritime emergency could have happened at all - some others pulled out their mobile phones to take their followers with them during the disaster. Others concentrated on the essentials - and rescued the most valuable possessions first: from MacBooks to bottles of the noble Clase Azul Gold Tequila worth 350 dollars.
When the rescue operation was completed, only the bow of the Tecnomar was still sticking out of the water. Plunged vertically into the depths, the boat was almost completely submerged. One eyewitness, Rachel Miller, told local broadcaster WSVN-TV News: "We saw a group of police boats - and there was another yacht that had capsized, completely upright in the water."
While the emergency services brought the last castaways on board the lifeboat, those who had already been rescued posed radiantly for photos and videos - with broad smiles and perfectly staged cheerfulness. Fortunately, no one was injured and all the passengers were rescued in time.
The incident is now being investigated more closely. According to various media reports, the yacht was loaded far beyond its authorised capacity. The identity of the owner is not yet known, but this mystery should be easy to solve: The Tecnomar was built in a strictly limited edition.
