Iddes Yachts shows that there is another way. Or can it be? In any case, Iddes founder Iván Salas Jefferson vouches for the realistic feasibility of "Earth 300". The Spanish engineer is both designer and project manager. In addition, "Earth 300" is also the name of a movement centred around Singapore-based entrepreneur Aaron Olivera, who wants to learn from nature and defend it. Kjell Inge Røkke has set himself similar goals with "REV Ocean" - but the 300 metres are more futuristic in design and more experimental in propulsion. The 46 metre wide and 60 metre high research vessel will be powered by a molten salt reactor, a nuclear reactor that runs on the low-level radioactive metal thorium. This sustainable technology has been trialled on a small scale since the 1950s and eliminates the risk of a core meltdown. There is space for 22 laboratories, 200 scientists, 40 guests and 165 crew members on board "Earth 300". The crucial question of whether it is a yacht has yet to be answered. Five million dollars have already been spent on planning, and now between 500 and 700 million euros are to be raised.
