Fincantieri regularly develops projects beyond the 80 metre mark, although not too many of these have yet been realised in the docks in Muggiano. The 134 metre long "Serene" and the 140 metre long "Ocean Victory" have so far been the only new build projects delivered by the listed group's yacht subsidiary. Indirectly, the 183-metre-long "Rev" could perhaps also be described as a Fincantieri order; the Vard shipyards in Romania and Norway, which were entrusted with the majority of the "Rev" project, have been part of the Fincantieri Group, the fourth-largest shipbuilder in the world, since 2013.
As the Italians produce both cruise and naval formats, the idea of utilising synergy effects arose internally. "Vis" is the name of the 80.80 metre long and 14.20 metre wide result, which at first glance looks more like a warship than a yacht. Although Lürssen's "Skat" and, more recently, Silver Yachts' "Bold" have already produced designs with a similar look, this is not a mini-trend, but - if you will forgive the independent observer - a somewhat disturbing exterior. The "Vis" lines and relaxed parties by the jacuzzi somehow don't really go together.
VIPs, politicians and business tycoons in particular may appreciate the look, for which Fincantieri engaged the experienced Francesco Paszkowski. He lightened up the rather rugged look with the usual yacht features such as a beach club in the stern, a Jacuzzi with bar stools on the bridge deck and a helipad that can also be converted into a lounge. The layout of "Vis" caters to current trends in this size range: saloon with dining area, a gym and six guest cabins on the main deck as well as the owner's suite with office and private gym one deck above. At the stern of the owner's deck, a balcony folds down to accommodate two chairs, a familiar feature in yachting.
The roofing of the generously dimensioned al-fresco area on the deck above is a novelty: large solar panels on it provide additional energy. "Vis" can take 14 guests in seven cabins and 23 crew members on its decks with a total volume of 2470 grosstons. The 80-metre yacht has a range of 5000 nautical miles at twelve knots with a conventional propulsion package consisting of two diesel engines (2350 kilowatts each), and up to 8.50-metre-long tenders can be stored in the garage.
