The Belize 55 Daybridge is the latest model in Riviera’s Belize range. For this model, the shipyard has opted for a raised helm position, which offers the skipper a better view, and a wide range of customisation options for the fittings.
Two Volvo Penta D11 IPS 950 engines, each producing 725 PS, power the Belize 55. In the IPS system, forward-facing, counter-rotating propellers are mounted on individually controllable propulsion units. According to the manufacturer, this improves manoeuvrability and reduces fuel consumption. The dry weight is approximately 25,520 kilograms. The fuel tank holds 3,000 litres.
The Volvo Penta Glass Cockpit is in operation at both helm stations, on the daybridge and in the cabin. It brings together navigation, engine data and other information on customisable screens. The joystick control combines steering, gear changes and throttle control in a single lever and is designed to make mooring in confined spaces easier. The CZone system manages all electrical loads centrally, via touchscreen or, optionally, via an iPad. The Sentinel app allows key on-board systems to be monitored remotely and selected circuits to be switched on or off from a smartphone.
Six people can sleep in three cabins. The owner’s cabin spans the full width of the boat and has its own bathroom; the other two cabins share a second bathroom. In the saloon on the main deck, large, curved windscreens, side windows that open and a sliding roof ensure plenty of natural light. The dining area consists of an L-shaped seating area with a folding table.
The aft deck is the main area for outdoor activities. Two doors in the transom open flush with the self-draining swim platform. Storage compartments in the cockpit and an insulated box accommodate equipment, whilst the so-called ‘watersports garage’ provides space for watersports gear. The wet bar comprises an electric barbecue with LED lighting, a fridge-freezer, an ice maker and storage compartments with lids.
The galley is situated amidships and features composite worktops, a pull-out larder cupboard and several refrigerated compartments. Opposite is an L-shaped bench seat. On the foredeck, a padded sun lounger with an adjustable backrest invites you to relax, and several storage compartments are integrated here. The ‘Daybridge’, from which the boat takes its name, features a second helm station as well as padded bench seats for guests.
The Riviera design team has developed the hull, which, according to the shipyard, is designed to ensure a smooth ride even in rough seas. The design complies with the specifications for ocean-going yachts. The clearance height is 6.30 metres, whilst the maximum draught with propellers is 1.35 metres. This is important in areas with bridges or limited water depths.
Riviera offers a two-year warranty on non-structural components. Volvo Penta covers engines, drive systems, control units and displays for five years: up to 1,000 operating hours for D6 engines, and up to 2,000 for D8, D11 and D13 units. A seven-year structural warranty applies to the hull, deck, flybridge and hardtop, up to 2,800 operating hours. The exact terms and conditions can be obtained from the dealer.
