At boot Düsseldorf 2026 (17-25 January 2026), the Italian shipyard Santasevera will present a new model: the Santasevera 42. The 42-foot yacht will be presented to the public for the first time and closes the gap between the previous models of the still young brand.

Visually, it is modelled on the larger Santasevera 52, which was also designed by brand boss Francesco Guida. Hull number one will already be on display at the trade fair, and two further units are already under construction.

The focus of this model is also clearly on a spacious outdoor area with extensive sunbathing areas and sofas. The superstructure, which is shown in black in the renderings, is pulled far forward and appears quite short at first glance. It offers protection for the steering position and the companionway, but the sunbathing areas behind it are hardly protected from the sun or bad weather. However, we would be surprised if a retractable bimini wasn't at least offered as an option.

On the starboard side is the steering console with space for one person. You won't find a passenger seat or a bench - instead, a C-shaped sofa has been installed. The bulkhead, which separates the interior from the exterior, looks unusually bare in the renderings. A sight that is rarely seen. How it is ultimately realised in reality will be revealed at boot Düsseldorf.

Below deck

Below deck, the shipyard has opted for a flexible layout. The forward cabin can be configured as required and has its own toilet. The concept is particularly suitable for day and weekend trips.

The performance data communicated so far are solid, but not extremely sporty. Two Volvo Penta D4 engines, each with 320 hp, should enable a top speed of around 30 knots. Depending on the configuration, Santasevera offers outboard, sterndrive or IPS variants; the model on show in Düsseldorf will be exhibited with sterndrive. Those who prefer sportier sailing characteristics are more likely to opt for the outboard versions. However, as not all details have been released yet, the engine options are subject to change.

From his grandfather's self-built wooden opti and a Europe to a 49er and an X362 Sport, there was a lot to choose from. After leaving school, Puls decided to train as a boat builder at the high-tech shipyard Knierim Yachtbau in Kiel in 2016. He successfully completed his training in 2020 and stayed at the shipyard as a bachelor. In 2022, he decided not only to build boats, but also to test them. Since then, he has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag in the Test & Technology section of BOOTE magazine. The training he received and the eye for detail and quality of workmanship he acquired help him immensely today. Even though he is a regatta sailor with heart and soul, he feels right at home on motorboats and enjoys separating his professional and private lives and yet combining them. Because we all know one thing: there is simply no better place to be than on the water.
