The Dutch shipyard Smelne is expanding its Vlet series with a new model with an open cockpit. The Vlet 430 OC (Open Cockpit) combines the proven sailing characteristics of the Vlet series with an integrated living concept in which the cockpit and saloon are on one level. At just under 13 metres in length, the boat is positioned in the middle segment of steel displacement boats.
The Vlet 430 OC is characterised by a specially developed underwater hull, which is designed to ensure stable sailing characteristics. It is powered by a Volvo Penta D4 diesel engine with 175 hp (129 kW), which offers sufficient power for inland waters and coastal waters.
Manoeuvrability is supported by a combination of bow and stern thrusters, each with 180 kgf (kilogram force) of thrust. This makes mooring in narrow harbour basins or in crosswinds particularly easy.
The central feature of the 430 OC is the open cockpit concept. The saloon and cockpit form a continuous, ground-level area without steps or landings. A generous saloon roof extends over parts of the cockpit and provides weather protection, while a sliding glass roof above the helm station provides additional ventilation.
The interior features American cherry wood with solid mouldings for a warm atmosphere. The saloon bench is upholstered in leather. Comfort on board is ensured by a Fisher Panda 8000i generator for independent power supply, Thermic Line glazing for better insulation and a Kabola heater for pleasant temperatures even in the cooler seasons.
With a weight of 16,300 kg, the Vlet 430 OC offers good stability even in rough seas. The width of 4.15 metres creates generous space in the interior.
The Smelne Vlet 430 OC will be presented to the public for the first time at Hiswa te Water in Lelystad from 3 to 7 September 2025 at stand B14. After the trade fair, the boat will be on display in the manufacturer's showroom in Drachten.
