The self-made millionaire from Brooklyn built up a car dealership empire and made a name for himself in yachting with "Octopussy". In 1988, the 44-hectare yacht shocked with a top speed of over 50 knots. Thanks to hull optimisation by Mulder Design, "Spectre" achieves an impressive 21 knots. According to Frank Mulder, who calculated the entire Bond fleet with his team, efficiency increased by 30 per cent without having to increase the engine power or slavishly reduce the weight. At 3.20 metres, the draught is again Bahamas-compatible, as with his 61-metre Benetti "Diamonds Are Forever". Two MTU gensets, each with 2580 kilowatts of power, enable a range of 6500 nautical miles at a speed of twelve knots and 120,000 litres of diesel in the bunker.
Car collector Staluppi, who built a museum especially for his "Cars of Dreams" collection, was heavily involved in the design process together with his wife. Giorgio M. Cassetta, a designer close to Benetti, was responsible for the styling, while the in-house Benetti Style Department was in charge of the interior. Like all Staluppi yachts before it, "Spectre" was planned as a charter yacht with the intention of selling it again after a few years. The five-decker accommodates twelve guests and has two owner's cabins, one of which has access to a private terrace. Two VIP suites are located on the main deck, including two double cabins. For a comfortable journey, "Spectre" has a touch-and-go helipad, while four fin stabilisers from Naiad Dynamics ensure comfortable travel.
