Steel boats - of course they mostly come from the Netherlands. There are usually two main versions: The Sedan with a flat silhouette and a driving position in the saloon and the AC version with an aft cabin and an open cockpit with a driving position on the roof. Our test boat, the Boarncruiser 46 Traveller, takes a special approach as it is equipped with a flybridge.
"Of course, we made sure that the clearance height of our 46 Travellers was less than 3.50 metres," explains Wies Hokwerda, the boss of de Boarnstream.
This means that the test boat can also travel under bridges in inland areas without any problems. With CE certification "B", it is of course also possible to travel outside the coastline - keyword island hopping. No matter where you go, you can steer from two control stations: One is sheltered in the saloon and can be used well in bad weather, while the other on the flybridge is a real open-air pleasure.
The upper floor is climbed via a staircase, the steps of which are so deep that you can walk forwards when descending and not backwards as with a ladder. Solid handrails ensure a secure hold. The driver and front passenger sit on well-moulded bucket seats. From there, the driver has
driver has everything under control and a great view.
The wet bar with grill is located directly in front of the front passenger seat and is responsible for catering for the "upper class". In the centre, there is a double bench set back to accommodate two more people. The owner can customise the furniture in the aft flybridge area. Free-standing furniture or berth/seat combinations bolted together by the shipyard are suitable here. In the centre is the mast, which can be folded aft by hand to reduce the clearance height.
One level below, on the bathing platform, a dinghy can be easily transported in special holders. The platform also has a stern shower and a bathing ladder that is easily accessible from the water. The cockpit can be accessed via side entrances, although these do not have doors on our test boat - these are on the accessories list.
