"My customers should be able to take a dart and throw it at the map of Europe and then drive to where the dart is stuck"
according to the statement fromHans Webbink, Head of Steeler in the Netherlands. A strong statement from someone who bought a shipyard as a lateral entrant in 2001.
In the beginning there wereGRP boats (Antaris) and later, because customers wanted larger boatsSteel boats to build. To distinguish themselves from the plastic boats by name, they called the whole thing Steeler and added the abbreviation NG, "Next Generation", to differentiate themselves from the competition.
And NG means that the boats are built to the customer's specifications, at least on the inside, and Steeler then packs everything into a handsomeSteel or aluminium shell. Thebig plus from Steeler, you build boats around ideas, so to speak.
And with aluminium as a building material, it is now possible to fulfil the wishes of those who no longer just want to push through the water as displacers, but want to make fast progress as gliders.
And if you look at the figures, they speak for aluminium, as there is only about oneOne third as heavy as steeland is not much heavier than GRP boats when built accordingly. This means that Steeler is now playing in the same class as renowned shipyards with plastic boats of roughly the same size.
