From 8 to 19 September 2026, a world premiere is on the agenda in Cannes: the Dutch Van der Valk Shipyard will be unveiling the 34-metre-long MY Maravi to the public for the first time in the Vieux Port in the Bay of Cannes.
Design with a distinctive style
The MY Maravi is the result of close collaboration between the owners, exterior designer Guido de Groot and interior designer Carla Guilhem. The result is a yacht with an unmistakable character – meticulously tailored to the owners’ vision.
The tried-and-tested hull of the MY Lady Lene serves as the hydrodynamic basis. This decision ensures reliable handling characteristics whilst giving the design team the freedom to completely redesign everything above the waterline. “We build for owners who aren’t satisfied with an off-the-shelf product,” says Van der Valk – and the MY Maravi demonstrates what that means in practice.
Drive and performance
The MY Maravi is powered by two Volvo Penta engines, each producing 750 PS. Its top speed is 14.4 knots – a respectable figure for a full-displacement yacht of this size, allowing for both long-distance voyages and comfortable cruising.
Four decks for socialising
The layout of the four-deck MY Maravi is clearly designed to encourage shared experiences. A particular highlight is the fold-out platform at the stern, which connects the boat directly to the water and provides ample access for swimmers and water sports enthusiasts. The storage space beneath houses water toys and fitness equipment – the area also serves as a separate relaxation zone. The entire yacht is designed to accommodate larger groups in comfort and style.
A family-run business with a long tradition
Van der Valk is a family-run shipyard that has been building boats in Waalwijk since 1967 and specialises in vessels ranging from 25 to 45 metres in length. Around 100 employees cover almost all trades in-house: metalwork, joinery, engineering, paintwork and interior fit-out. Only upholstery work, glazing, stainless steel elements and larger steel hulls are outsourced.
The MY Maravi can be found at berth QML 014 at the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival. The Van der Valk team will also be at stand QML 117, providing information on current and planned new-build projects.
