Vanquish launched the VQ115 Veloce. The Dutch company's new aluminium flagship relies on surface drives and almost 8000 hp from three MTU engines.

Previously, the Vanquish stopped at 80 feet. When it comes to large formats, the shipyard from Markenesse in the Netherlands has always relied on aluminium and maintaining high speed values. The VQ115 Veloce has now been launched not far from the IJsselmeer. The elongated lines with a flat superstructure originate from the computers of Guido de Groot Design. The designers at Studio Delta, also from the Netherlands, teamed up with Petestep from Sweden to design the aluminium hull.

Next up for the 6.70 metre narrow 100-tonner are test runs on the North Sea. In order to reach the top speed of 43 knots, the three 2650 hp MTU engines are likely to run at full load; in twin-engine operation and fully fuelled with 10,500 litres of diesel, the aim is to achieve a range of around 500 nautical miles. If only one of the 16 cylinders is running, it is still enough for a speed of 15 knots. Two gyro stabilisers from Seakeeper ensure comfort at low speeds.

Two hull spaces for Vanquish tenders

Via two tender garages, the 35 metre long flagship also becomes a kind of floating ambassador for the shipyard's own composite portfolio, which delineates the fun equipment that can reach speeds of up to 50 knots. Parked aft over the transom is a VQ16 a fuselage hatch on the starboard side VQ11. The smallest Vanquish model has space for paddleboards, sea-doos and a tank for live bait, among other things. The draught of just 1.35 metres is also ideal for coastal sport fishing trips.

Despite the impressive performance figures, Vanquish and Guido de Groot have not restricted the interior of the VQ115 Veloce. The main deck is dominated by a saloon with a galley opposite the steering position. The open galley is located one deck below next to a U-shaped seating area. The accommodation includes a master suite aft, a VIP cabin in the bow and a guest cabin with single beds in between. A separable entertainment room with two Pullman beds increases the number of berths to eight.
