200 years of Codecasa. A real cause for celebration.

Big anniversary. In 1825, the shipbuilder Giovanni Battista Codecasa founded the company in Viareggio. The Italian shipyard is still firmly in the hands of the family today. Many celebrities also sail a Codecasa.

The step into the new century was successful: Giovanni's son of the same name, called Tistino, took over in 1902. He led the shipyard through the world wars and to success. Initially, the company focussed on sailing boats and by 1946 had reached a production of over 50 units, as well as fishing boats, pontoons and other vessels.

In the 1960s, Tistino's sons Ugo and Sandro took over, and after Ugo's death in 1973, Fulvio Codecasa succeeded him and from then on also had large motor yachts built.

The Codecasa name shines on fast aluminium yachts

In 1975, the 27-metre "Fair Play" was built, introducing the typical Codecasa style. In 1982, the 62 metre long "Luisella" came onto the scene as a stately flagship. This was followed in 1994 by "Blue Velvet" and in 1996 by "Charly Coppers", which opened the 48/51 metre series. At the beginning of the 2000s, the shipyard took off with fast aluminium yachts, the first of which was launched in 2004 for Fulvio Codecasa and bore the name of his wife Maria Carla.

At the same time, the brand expanded and opened three new locations in and around Viareggio by 1987. In 2011, an area was added in Pisa for the construction of formats up to 80 metres.

The shipyard remains in family hands

Fulvia's daughter Fulvia joined the company in 1985, followed shortly afterwards by her younger sister Elena and finally their husbands. The next generation took over in the 2000s with the three children of Fulvia and her husband Ennio: Matteo, Niccolò and Chiara.

Silvio Berlusconi also ordered a Codecasa

Famous yacht owners have become ambassadors for the shipyard, such as Giorgio Armani, who replaced his "Mariù" from 2003 with "Main" (2008). Or Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce with their "Regina d'Italia" from 2006, which was followed 13 years later by a yacht of the same name. Yacht with a length of 65 metres followed. In 2011, "Magari" was built for Paolo Bulgari and "Dragoluna" in 2019 for Pier Silvio Berlusconi.

The most recent launches (2024) include the 43-metre-long "Gioia", a steel and aluminium construction with a range of 4,000 nautical miles at eleven knots.
