55-metre "Solemates" leaves Heesen
The steel-aluminium format known under the project name "Castor" is the second delivery from the Dutch shipyard since the coronavirus outbreak.

"Solemates" - that was the name of a 60-metre Lürssen from 2010. Heesen started building the 55-metre boat on his own initiative and found a US owner just under a year and a half ago. He hired a stylist to complete the Bannenberg & Rowell interior with veneers and fabrics. The masculine exterior design by Frank Laupman is underlined by newly added colour accents in grey. The slit windows of the owner's suite, which extends over 82 square metres of the forward main deck, are shown to their best advantage. "Solemates" scores points on worldwide charter operations with a volume of 760 gross tonnes and a width of 9.60 metres. Ten guests are accommodated in four double cabins on the lower deck and in a VIP compartment behind the bridge.

Two days before delivery, the hull designed by Van Oossanen cut through the North Sea during test runs at a higher speed and range than predicted. "Solemates" relies on twin MTU engines, each with "only" 1000 kilowatts of power.
