In addition to the doubling in size, the new project also means a change in construction method for the shipyard on the French border. Instead of being made of GRP, like the 35.50 metre long Amer 120 semi-glider, the 70 metre displacement vessel will be made of steel. The Amerio family is relying on a network of suppliers in Liguria and Tuscany and is having the construction supervised by engineer Giulio Riva.
Antonio Luxardo from Optima Design in La Spezia is contributing the lines, while the design specifications for the interior come from Laura Pomponi's Studio Luxury Projects. Work on the Amer 70 Steel began in March and delivery to the European owner is scheduled for 2026.
