After central Italy was rocked by a series of earthquakes this year, the Ferretti Group decided to help - at least some - of its compatriots with an unprecedented campaign. Under the direction of Ferretti CEO Alberto Galassi, an Aquariva Super was auctioned off during the Yacht Club de Monaco's traditional Christmas cocktail. Not a conventional model, but a one-off for which world star Elton John had specially chosen the hull colour "Blue Wonderful". John commented: "As a friend of the Ferretti Group and as a Riva owner, I am happy to support this campaign and am delighted to help."
One owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, won the bid at 430,000 euros (plus tax). The proceeds from the auction will be paid out in full to the authorities and passed on to as many earthquake victims as possible.
