The 60-metre-long Amels 200 was initially rolled out of the hall onto a pontoon on self-propelled vehicles, whose ballast water tanks were then flooded. Damen Yachting found an owner for the first unit from the new platform series at the end of 2019. The 200 differs from the Amels 188 "Volpini 2" in its larger bathing platform, longer aft decks and the floor-to-ceiling windows in the owner's suite on the forward main deck. She shares the hybrid energy system, a fully air-conditioned gym on the sundeck and a lift that serves all four decks with the half-sister ship. The Amels 200 has cabins for a total of twelve guests, designed by British studio Raymond Langton.
The swan-like exterior was created by Amels' long-standing design partner Tim Heywood, who describes his work as follows: "There are many details that put a smile on my face. The floating struts, the complex curved surfaces, the bevelled deck ends, the integrated life rafts, the sculptural mast and the intricate stern all form a harmonious design that fits securely into its surroundings, something I am very proud of. I believe her delicate, flowing lines will prove timeless and she will still look as attractive in 50 years' time as she does today."
Damen Yachting's engineers assume that the Amels 200 will run at a maximum of 15.5 knots and achieve a range of 4,500 nautical miles at 13 knots. Delivery is planned for summer 2021.
