The world's largest yacht, the 163 metre long "Eclipse", underwent minor maintenance work at the Italian Fincantieri shipyard in Trieste rather than at its Hamburg construction site at Blohm+Voss. The docking phase lasted four weeks, with around 70 Fincantieri employees and suppliers working on board.
After the shipyard stay, "Eclipse" immediately headed for Gibraltar - probably to refuel before the Atlantic crossing. After all, "Eclipse" owner Roman Abramovich likes to spend the winter and the turn of the year in the Caribbean.
Fincantieri Yachts itself is currently working on a format that is only 23 metres shorter than the "Eclipse". The 140 metre long "Victory" is currently being built in the shipyards in La Spezia. The 88 metre long "Virage88" by Andrew Winch, the 145 metre long "Fortissimo" by Ken Freivokh and the 142 metre long "Armonia" by Andrea Vallicelli are also in the project phase.
