Feadship becomes greener | er
The Dutch shipyard group carried out a sustainability refit at the Makkum site and installed 420 solar panels on the roof of the new dry dock.
The solar installation will supply the 112-metre-long hall, which was built according to the latest energy standards, with 180 megawatt hours of electricity per year; three times as much is already produced in Aalsmeer and Amsterdam. "This latest investment reflects an organisation-wide commitment within Feadship to build climate-neutral yachts by 2025," says Makkum shipyard manager Sijbrand de Vries, who has also had a new helicopter platform built.
