After a series of suppliers (Yacht Support), the parent company of yacht builder Amels is presenting an independently operating expedition yacht for the first time. The custom build is strongly based on the SeaXplorer platform, which comprises five formats from 55 to 105 metres. Damen engineers carried out the structural calculations, while Azure Yacht Design created the exterior. The owner had the interiors designed by Carlo Torre of Monaco Yacht Temptation. Fraser supervised the build, which includes a polar class approval. The on-board systems allow for 30 days of autonomy, and in addition to the fully certified helideck including hangar, there are two tender garages and a diving centre. At the heart of Siemens' diesel-electric BlueDrive propulsion system are gensets that run at variable speeds and supply both electric motors and battery banks with power. The 62-metre explorer with the eye-catching yacht finish is due to be launched at the beginning of 2020. The 77-metre custom SeaXplorer is also located at the shipyard in Vlissingen "La Datcha" which is currently being equipped and is also scheduled for delivery next year.
