Even if the lines don't look very exploreresque at first glance, the equipment speaks in favour of long passages in remote areas: Naiad fin stabilisers, Dynamic Positioning System, ECDIS navigation information system and a FarSounder forward-looking sonar. With two V-12 four-stroke diesels from CAT, the designers at Diana Yacht Design predict a top speed of 14.7 knots. Fully fuelled and travelling at twelve knots, the operating radius should be 3800 nautical miles.
The outdoor features include a pool on the upper deck, a fire pit and a 1.30 metre wide barbecue. The interior layout has surprises in store: The ceilings reach up to 2.40 metres in height and five double cabins are spread across the main deck. The owner lives and sleeps above. Royal Hakvoort plans to deliver YN 251 in early summer. Before heading across the Atlantic, the owner wants to explore the Baltic Sea with his 61 metre yacht - another indication of an explorer.
Albert Hakvoort Sr, who passed away in March at the age of 80, was also remembered during the launch. As the son of the shipyard's founder, he worked for the company for 60 years and lived to see it crowned Royal Shipyard in November 2020.
