After test runs on the North Sea, the owner, who had previously been keen on sailing, took delivery of the 50-metre aluminium format.

With its 2160 kilowatt MTU gensets, "Erica" reached a top speed of 20 knots and exceeded the calculated range of 3750 nautical miles. MCM oversaw the construction of the speculative Heesen build. MCM co-founder Nigel Ingram explains the reason for the move away from sailing: "I had already represented the owner in the construction of a classic 54-metre sailing yacht. There were only a few sailors in the younger generation of his family, so a motor yacht seemed to make sense, not least because it is a more comfortable platform for a large family with lots of grandchildren." The layout and design are correspondingly family-friendly. Features of the "Home" sister ship.
