The Hamburg site of the Bremen shipyard group is thus better equipped for "confidential projects and the often capricious weather". The Stuttgart architect Werner Sobek, who planned the project, wants the membrane roofing to be reminiscent of sails and reduce noise emissions. Lürssen estimates the investment sum for the second longest and most exposed of the seven B+V docks at 287.5 metres at over 13 million euros. It is located diagonally opposite the Elbphilharmonie concert hall and could become a new landmark of the Hanseatic city.
The conversion itself should be exciting. When it begins in the middle of the year, the floating dock will be moved to the even larger Dock Elbe 17. The yacht being built on the 351 metre long construction site will then move to Dock 10, where work will continue while the roof is being erected. Once the enclosure is complete, Lürssen will bring the new design dock, including the large format, to Bremen Berne for two years.
