Cross Ocean Partners and Cheyne Capital are now officially the owners of the yacht builder. At the same time, Scott Millar has taken up the post of Chief Executive Officer. The executive, who has 27 years’ experience, joined Sunseeker via the consultancy firm Teneo, where he developed the five-year growth plan.

Millar was previously an executive at Teneo, where he headed the Corporate Turnaround & Transformation division. He takes over the role from the interim CEO Steve Timms, who had steered the company through the change of ownership.

Four new managers are joining the team

In addition to Millar, Sunseeker has filled four further key positions. Andy Gawthorpe takes on the role of CCO, overseeing commercial strategy and global expansion. The Oxford graduate brings with him experience from Aston Martin and Triumph Motorcycles, where he served as sales director. Ian Morgan becomes Chief Strategy Officer. He has already been involved in developing Sunseeker’s new superyacht strategy.

James Grove is leading the digital transformation. He was most recently Director of Technology at Chelsea FC and previously held the same role at Southampton FC. Adrian Mardell completes the team as Chairman.

Investments in products and operations

Cross Ocean Partners and Cheyne Capital are funding a large-scale transformation. A product development plan is set to expand and enhance the model range. Steve Timms: “It was important to us not to rush the appointment of a permanent CEO. We wanted someone who truly cares about this brand – someone with the vision, passion and experience to steer Sunseeker steadily into its next phase of growth.”

Commenting on his appointment, Millar himself said: “Sunseeker is one of the most admired names in the marine industry, with an outstanding product range and an incredibly talented team.”

Her studies in Kiel took her to the Baltic Sea with boats of all kinds and eventually to a regatta from Hong Kong to Mauritius via the Academic Sailing Club. Her teacher training ended at the Burda School of Journalism in Munich instead of in the classroom and finally at Boote Exclusiv. After a long break and various stories about house building, she returned to Delius Klasing and has been filling the magazine with long stories about large ships ever since. A family-owned H-boat was quickly sold again as the mother realized that sailing with two small children was neither relaxing nor fun.
