Ferretti Yachts - a brand of the Ferretti Group - developed the new flagship together with the higher-level engineering staff and the product strategy committee headed by Piero Ferrari. The mould construction also took place at the headquarters in Forlì. 70 kilometres to the south, Ferretti Yachts created the first widebody format in the history of the shipyard with the 1000. The increase in volume relates to the front main deck, which, compared to the 920, is now only flanked by side decks up to the centre of the yacht. Guests can now reach the front cockpit from the flybridge without having to climb stairs. No surprises with the layout: the owner spends the night on the main deck in a flat that extends across almost the full hull width of 6.81 metres. Eight guests are accommodated in four equally sized cabins one deck below.
Two 16-cylinder MTU engines (2000 M86) each produce 1630 kilowatts and propel the 115 tonnes to a top speed of 24 knots. With MTU's L version (1939 kW each), even 28 knots should be possible. Due to the theoretically removable bow section, the Ferretti 1000, which measures 30.13 metres overall, has a hull length of just under 24 metres - and thus receives the CE mark. The first construction number of the GRP semi-glider is going to a French owner, two further units have been sold.
