The Italian west coast is a cruising paradise. Capri, Ischia, Ravello, Positano; dozens of places that seem to have sprung from postcards are strung together like a string of pearls. The new Marina D'Arechi near Salerno fits seamlessly into this series of dream destinations on Italy's Mediterranean coast. With a capacity of one thousand berths, including 80 for yachts between 25 and 100 metres in length, Marina D'Arechi is the largest of its kind. Dubbed an "architectural masterpiece", it is built in the shape of an island off the Amalfi Coast and is only connected to the mainland by a bridge. Surrounded by piers and jetties, a new hotspot for sailing and motor yachts is set to come online here, welcoming guests all year round against the picturesque backdrop. Planning for the construction of the marina began back in 2000. A full 16 years later, the marina with its 340,000 square metre basin was finally completed in December 2016. The harbour, which has been awarded the highest possible safety certificate, has its own water and waste recycling facilities, a repair hall including a crane and, of course, restaurants and a spa.
