The aluminium-carbon slup was created according to Reichel/Pugh's design specifications and under the overall creative aegis of Nauta Design.

Project 405 will go down in Royal Huisman's history as the first yacht whose construction contract was negotiated by the shipyard with the owners, their representatives and the design teams via video conferences and telephone calls. An "intelligent lockdown" has allowed the Dutch shipyard to maintain operations since mid-March under strict conditions, including home office outsourcing and shift work.

The new 46-metre sloop will compete on an equal footing with full-carbon formats of the same length, but will offer the maximum of ten guests and eight crew members greater noise comfort below deck and the seaworthiness typical of Royal Husiman. The Panamax mast, which Rondal is manufacturing from carbon fibre, is scheduled for delivery in 2022. The owner's representative is Nigel Ingram from MCM. Also under construction in Vollenhove is an almost 60-metre-long aluminium-carbon slup with McKeon lines and Liaigre interior, as well as the 55-metre-long "Phi" engine project.
